wooooooo~
yeah... hehe... most of the time I just get the feeling I shouldn't bother with these xD (they always suck )
but um.. yeah?
I've been doing ok, just biding my time... cause... we're moving!!!! finally xD and back to a place I'de much rather be. <3

I don't know if anyone else has ever read the real versions of old fairy tales but... there is always at least one thing that is just like... wait.. what??... wtf?? xD... they make for a rather interesting read. I'm finding Hans Christian Anderson to be much more enjoyable than Brothers Grim. but those brothers...I mean who could forget this lovely passage:
'Hans went into the stable, cut out the calves and sheep's eyes, and threw them at Grethle's face. Then Grethel became angry, tore herself loose and ran away, and became the bride of Hans'
or you know you love the sentiment of:
'Then she came to the sun, but it was too hot and terrible, and devoured little children' wait... I agree with that one...
how about~
'But the morning star arose, and gave her the drumstick of chicken and said, "If though hast not that drumstick though canst not open the Glass mountain, and in the glass mountain is thy brothers" '
.... as well as the dwarves I think... I think she ended up eating the drumstick and having to chop of a finger to use as the key, but it was all good. (the last two came from the same story, but the fist was a different one )
oh, the list goes on...
good times.
oh, and I have a deepening love of flowers! so many lovely ones ^^

Maybe you should do an illustration based on one of the more creepy fairy tales. One of the assignments in Illustration 2 (a class at my school) is to do a "twisted" fairly tale. I'll be doing that over the summer.

ps My mother is a huge orchid fan, the kitchen at home is full of the things.

wow! I would love to be surrounded by such beautiful flowers~~ but first of all.. I can't make things grow for the life of me.. and two the kitties would so eat them T~T
that would probably make for a good exercise since I don't do dark pieces really, and it would give me something to work with.
heheh though it would be hard to pick one, even the brighter, lighter stories all have their moments that are just like @_____@;;;;
like I noticed death, is totaly ok, and murder is even more ok and without any consequence (with the law or their own conscience ). And loosing random body parts is common place and no reason for alarm.
So do you have to write and put together an entire story? I'de really like to see what you do with it : D
~Icarus667:iconIcarus667: Apr 5, 2008, 11:44:53 PM
Firstly: My mother as two cats who do not eat the orchids (probably for the best)
Secondly: Yeah, the grimm fairy tales are just that: grim. I remember an old book at my grandmothers house that told the story of "Thomas Suckathumb" who wouldn't stop sucking his thumb until a man with scissors for fingers chopped it off. Old folklore can be pretty crazy sometimes.
Thirdly: No, we don't have to write a whole new story. We just have to take a common fairy tale and "twist" it somehow. We can do the "3 little pigs" and have to wolf win or Cinderella where she's actually a drag queen. Whatever we want along those lines. I'll be glad to send you a copy once I actually do it, but that won't be until summer.
Forthly: I'm glad to be talking to you again, it's been too long.

oo cool! yeah, I'll be waiting to see that :3
~I know~ I'm not really active here... or anywhere for that matter hehehe ><;; I'm so bad ><

Are you moving back to Cali?
Oooo, where might I find these original fairy tales? I've been so interested, but I haven't had the time to look for any (since my compy is still down and I'm working a lot).
Missed ya!
Did you hear that apparently X Japan is going to do a show in New York?

aaa no ><~~!! It figures something cool would happen on this side of the states when I'm moving eh? jeeze xP

For the fairytales, I pretty much have collections. Like the first one I got was the complete collection of the Brother's Grim tales, recently I got a collection of Hans Christian Anderson, whom I recommend over Grim. The stories are more full of color and life than just retelling of events (however random xD ) Grim is still good for interesting ideas though. I also have one of japanese ones, but I haven't read them yet so I'm not sure if they are any good heheh.

and yeah! I am moving back to cali ^^ *dances*

Yeah, I know. >.< I SOOOO wish we could go together! I think it's supposed to happen in, like, August or something. *sigh*
Yay! Back to sunny California! That's so awesome! Let me know when you're all settled and note me your new address. Perhaps I'll send you and Lui a little housewarming gift or something. ^_^ I'm so excited for you! :glomp:
Cool, Japanese fairy tales! I bet those are REALLY good! Let me know when you've read it and how it was!
